The next installment of the Need for Speed Series is being called as Shift. The NFS franchisee has really taken a downfall after Most Wanted as there recent installments like ProStreet and Undercover failed to click among the gamers. But this time, three NFS titles are coming in order to woo the gamers. There is Need For Speed Shift, Need For Speed World Online which is a free online PC game and Need For Speed : Nitro which is for the Wii.
Need For Speed Shift is being developed by UK based Slightly Mad Studios who are also behind the GTR series. This time the focus of the game has shifted from arcade style to Pure racing simulation. The game will be similar to games like Grid and will focus on 95% pure racing and a bit of an arcade action thrown here and there. The game is being so designed so that it gives the players impression of real race drivers. As usual the game has gorgeous graphics will beautifully detailed and rendered cars. The development team wants it to be a game that is best played from inside the car. So greater details have been placed in the cockpit view. You can see all the gauges, drivers hands on the wheel with the grip getting tight at the appropriate moments, real time reflections from car etc.
The game will have tracks that will be filled with steep corners and you will race against various computer controlled drivers with variable AI. To succeed, you will have to apply the brakes, increase speed, take turns at the right moment. Each cars will have its weight and performance difference. The AI will generally assist you while turning and breaking. So far not many details about the game is known.
The game does have beautiful graphics but that has been the case with almost all the NFS games. This time the series is moving from arcade style gameplay to Pure racing simulation. Whether the fans will like it is yet to be seen.
